Military Healthcare Professional

Military anaesthetists, a TA nurse and 200 Royal Navy medical personnel are among the latest military healthcare professionals to receive recognition for their work.

Prestigious award for Defence anaesthetists

138 Defence anaesthetists have received the Pask Certificate of Honour in recognition of their work in Afghanistan over the last ten years. During that time they have provided medical support on combat and security operations and have been instrumental in significantly improving the survival rate of battlefield casualties.

Defence anaesthetists work across all three services in the UK Armed Forces, and include both Regular and Reserve personnel. The award recognises their “outstanding dedication, courage and professionalism.”

Recognition for Navy medics

The Defence anaesthetists aren’t the only military medics to pick up an award for their teamwork so far this year.

200 medical personnel from the Royal Navy and Royal Marines received their medals from the Duchess of Cornwall at a ceremony in Portsmouth.

The medals recognise the medics’ service in Afghanistan where they worked together as a professional clinical team despite being drawn from 61 different units.

Royal Red Cross for TA medic

A TA medic  has recently been awarded the Royal Red Cross (Associate). Lieutenant Colonel Sharon Stewart deployed with 207 Field Hospital to the Camp Bastion hospital in Afghanistan where she was responsible for overseeing the wards and staff.

Lt Col Stewart spent six months treating trauma patients, including Afghan children and military personnel.
